THE BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMME
Objectives
The objective of the Bachelor of Architecture Programme at NED University is to develop professionals capable of addressing the issues of built environment in a comprehensive manner. The Bachelor of Architecture Programme at NED University, which is spread over five years, focuses to produce technically sound and socially responsive professionals equipped with a profound understanding of contemporary tools and skills in their profession.
The philosophy of the programme is 'Appropriate Architectural Education'. That is to say the programme intends to prepare professionals who can relate to the contextual realities in an appropriate manner. These professionals will be able to define and develop their respective role in the society according to their assessment of the contemporary needs and future requirements. By subscribing to this philosophy, the 'NED Architects' will be able to fulfil the needs of a rapidly diversifying job market as well as to perform their larger role as responsive professional.
Award of University Degree
The students who comply with the conditions prescribed by the University and successfully complete their courses and pass the required University Examinations are awarded a Bachelor of Architecture Degree by the University.
Instructions, Syllabi and Regulations pertaining to the Duration of Courses and Examinations in all courses and laboratories are carried out in English language.
The instructional programme and examination system of the University are based on the Annual System.
Practical Examinations are held along with the Theory Examinations by the University where practical work forms part of the curriculum.
Award of Division
Award of Division in Bachelor of Architecture Programme is made on the basis of five-year performance, with year wise weight age as under:
(i) First Year 10%
(ii) Second Year 15%
(iii) Third Year 15%
(iv) Fourth Year 20%
(v) Fifth/Final Year 40%
Students are advised to refer to the syllabi of courses prescribed by the University which are available for sale at National Bank of Pakistan, NED University Branch, Karachi. They should also study the rules and regulations relating to the Annual System of Examinations.
Course Description and Numbering System
The Course Numbers assigned to the courses of studies for the Programme prescribed by the University are represented through Mixed Notations which consist of an abbreviation for the teaching department offering the course followed by a three-digit number.
Following abbreviations are used for the teaching department offering the courses.
