Editorial - Editor In-Chief, Arifa Qazi

The heights by great men reached and kept,
Were not obtained by sudden flight.
But they, while their companions slept,
Were toiling upward in the night.
- Henry WadsWorth Longfellow

This verse virtually sums up the efforts of Team Vision 2009. This year's edition witnessed its fair share of trials and tribulations along its way, yet with the supreme efforts of the team, we have finally managed to launch the first ever online version of the CIS annual departmental magazine, VISION 2009.

I can still recall the disappointed messages from the marketing head, the frustration from the editorial head, and the urgency from the design head that increased exponentially as the deadline grew near. In the end, the Vision team resorted to late-night online meetings to bring forth for you this magazine.

The online Vision 2009 serves as a key milestone for the team as we managed to work around some considerable crises and instigate a fine and interactive version of the magazine. This year's edition will explore the hidden talents of the CIS students, elucidate some mind-boggling concepts, and provide, for the readers, a platform to communicate directly with the team. Moreover, on the website, you will also find an interactive poll and the previous issues of Vision.

Before I leave you to explore the hidden wonders of the publication, I would like to thank Almighty Allah for giving us the patience, strength and determination to work against all odds toward our goal and for making that goal a reality. I would also like to thank my parents for their support and encouragement when everything appeared bleak. Moreover, I thank Anum Mateen for giving a practical demonstration of the potential problems the Team Vision 2009 can encounter.

Nevertheless, this year's Vision would not be a reality without the perseverance of one of the best teams a Chief Editor can hope for. I would like to extend my gratitude to Humzah Al-Kindi for being an efficient team manager; Namrah Arif, and the entire editorial team for doing a great job with the intimidating editorial work. Next, my gratitude goes to Madiha Zubairi and her design team for working on too much in too little time and still meeting all the deadlines with exceptional content; Maqsood Ali Joyo and the marketing team for facing so many rejections in the name of Vision 2009 and yet not giving up, and Arifa Mehfooz and her team for keeping up morale and campaigning for the magazine at a time when all effort seemed fruitless.

I would also like to thank Muhammad Hasnain Wasaya for joining the team at such a crucial point and for designing the website for Vision Online. In the end, I express gratitude to Ms. Hina Khatri for her encouragement and support and for coordinating with the authorities and for providing me with a chance to lead the Team Vision 2009.

I hope you like this year's publication and the efforts of the students behind it. Please leave us your comments and suggestions or contact us for your submissions on the Email provided.

I wish you a pleasant read.
