  Biographical Sketch  
 

Dr. Khan is currently serving NED University in the capacity of Professor and Chairman in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Khan has also served the university as Chairman of Textile Engineering Department. He also enjoys the privilege of serving the university in ex-cadre as first Senior Research Fellow. Before his appointment as Professor, he served the department in the capacities of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor.


Prior to joining NED in 1980, Dr Khan served Government College of Technology at Karachi in the capacities of Instructor and Senior Instructor for almost eight years. During this period, he also headed the departments of Refrigeration & Air conditioning, Automobile, Mechanical, and Metallurgy.


Dr. Khan got his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, India in 1970. He pursued his MS program at the Case Western University, Ohio, USA during 1981-83 and Ph.D program at the University of Maryland at College Park, USA during 1992-97. During Ph.D, he undertook several projects with the industry under the Umbrella of the university. Dr. Khan also undertook his post-doctoral research on a NASA project in 1998.


Dr. Khan has more than twenty publications to his credit. His main areas of interest are Dynamics, Vibration, and Acoustics. Some of his hobbies include reading and playing tennis, chess, and bridge.
