Projects by Batch 2003-04

  • To design Humidification System for Production Laboratory I and Production Laboratory II of Department of Textile Engineering, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

  • To design a Co-generation Plant for spinning unit.

    a) Most of the spinning units have their own power generation plants.

    b) The hot flue gases evolve from power generation has temperature of 850o C  approx. can be used:

This steam can be used for absorption chilling which can further be used for air conditioning.Chilling can be used for cone conditioning / vacuum conditioning

  • To design and fabricate an apparatus to perform Impact penetration and Spray Rating tests.

    a) These tests are performed to test the water penetration or repellency in fabrics chemically finished by Water resistant chemicals.

    b)  Impact Penetration Test and Spray Rating Test are performed on different apparatus.

    c) Designing and fabrication of apparatus so that both above mentioned tests would be performed on same equipment.

  • To design a bleaching range for the processing of woven, knitted and terry fabrics.

    a) Bleaching ranges already exist are specified for one type of fabric only i.e. knitted or terry or woven fabric

    b) This project will help students to understand not only the mechanism of various machines to carry out same processes in different manner but also enable them to design alternative machinery range to enhance the efficiency, affectivity and cost-quality compatibility.

    c) Figure-out alteration or any special mechanism/device required for woven, knitted or terry fabric.

    d)  Detailed study of different Bleaching ranges that should include the machine mechanism, process chemistry and power transmission.

  • To design cold sizing machine.

    a) In this method, there is no need for sizing preparation, size boxes, pre wetting, cooking tanks etc. Special wax is applied so that    warp yarn withstand the stresses of loom during weaving.

    b) Also cost saving and require only hot water treatment to remove cold size or wax during pre – treatment. Conventional de-sizing doesn’t require.

  • To design a weft straightening system for fabric having S bow after printing.

    a) This project is already conducted last year by the final year students of batch: 2002-03.

Improvement and complete drawings of design is required along with simulation of proposed model.

  • Design of a Heat Recovery System for Stenter.

    a)  Gases at high temperature are exhausted from stenter can be utilized in heating gas before entering in burners of stenter.

    b) It will reduce energy consumption of stenter burner and improve its efficiency.

  • To analyze major processing faults and re - design vacuum slot of Bleaching Machine to reduce the faults during the processing of wider width and heavy quality fabrics.

    a) Vacuum Slot or Vacuum pump for fluff extraction from the bleaching chamber doesn’t work while processing fabrics of wider width and high GSM.

    b)  Re – designing of existing system so that it could work for heavy GSM fabrics with the same efficiency so as for low GSM Fabircs.

  • Process Re-Engineering of a Denim Garment unit using FMEA technique to increase the productivity.

     a. FMEA stands for Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.

It will include analysis of the complete denim processing from Spinning to Garment Finishing.

  • To design and fabricate the automated color dispensing system for the colour kitchen of printing department.

  • Investigation of the reasons of yarn imperfections and design a system to identify the faults on a ring spinning frame.
