News Report On TechElite'10

 

The All Pakistan mega IT exhibition and competition TechElite'10 was held on 29th April 2010 at NED University of Engineering and Technology. This inter university event was organized by the department of Computer and Information Systems Engineering under the umbrella of the SENTEC Society. The event kicked off at 9:30am in the auditorium with the opening ceremony which was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the university Engr.Abul Kalam, Dean Prof. Dr. Talat Altaf, Chairperson Prof. Haseena Khatoon, President of PASHA Ms.Jehan Ara, Country regional manager- Kabir Farooqi and 300 participants of the event.

The President of TechElite Muhammad Kashif Munir (B.E CIS) in his speech thanked all the sponsors, the faculty and administration of NED and his team for all their support. Prof. Dr Talat Altaf remarked that Techelite 2010 is more organized and well managed then those of previous years; he also announced membership of IET to the winners of software modeling and designing and software project competition. Ms. Jehan Ara the Chief Guest of the program was called on the stage to share her thoughts with the audience about PASHA's support to TechElite'10. She talked about the necessity of women in engineering and industry. The VC of NED officially announced the inaugural of TechElite and mentioned that 38%-40% female students are there at NED and stated that the position of NED in the country and world is due to its student body. He also stressed on getting an under graduation degree from your own country.
Their were other sessions conducted by the sponsors of the event in the lecture halls Computer and Information Systems department .Systems Limited talked about Mobile Computing and growth of E-Commerce in Pakistan, Telenor Introduced Easy Paisa and mentioned their products Omair Siddiqui from Trg-Tech talked about redefining technology and creating partnerships and claimed to make leaders out of ordinary minds.Folio3 delivered lecture on 'Best Choice of your IT career. Saqib Manzoor HR TPS delivered a lecture on 'How to manage your career' and talked about Mission and Vision

The closing ceremony was hosted by Ms.Rabia Garib, Editor in Chief of CIO
Pakistan, where she announced the winners for the competitions: Owais Ahmed from Sir Syed University bagged the first position for Networks Management, second position was taken by Muhammad Junaid Muzammil, Ahmed Majeed ,Hasan Feroz of NED University and third position by Syed Muhammad Owais Kazmi, Muhammad Syed Waqar Uddin and Ausaf Ahmed Vohra from FAST University. The software project champions were Syed Mohsin Ali Rizvi , Faizan Ashraf, Naushad Qamar from FAST who stood first, a group of three students from Karachi University comprising of M. Mohsin Khan, M. Ashar Azam ,M. Atif Hafeez came second, and three students from NED University :Mohammad Ahmed Nawaz, Mohammad Raza ,Syed Abdul Raafay Ahmed Hasan stood third. Speed Programming winners include the programmers from FAST: Taha Rafique, Mustafa Hanif and Ali Qasmi with first position, Kumail Abbass, Sarfaraz Hussain and Husnain from NED as runners up, and Shahan Ayub, Adeel Ahmed and Tariq Mehmood from NED as third position.

The event was sponsored by Easy paisa Telenor, co sponsored by TPS Pakistan, Mazik -strategic event partners. Competition sponsors included folio3, systems limited, TRG tech, and new horizon. Other sponsors include Mixit, PnT, Hamari web, and mercury logistics partners, coca cola, Orient, and Techlogix.
