Team NED reaches semifinals at ENIGMA

Introduction
From 25th to 28th January, 2012, IBA organized a 4 day event,‘ENIGMA’ at its main Campus consisting of 20 fascinating “Competitions of diverse talent” and several Social events.
Event details
The event covered contests based on art, music, drama, public speaking, photography, media, literature and sports. For public speaking,the teams were judged on the quality of their content, individual speaking style, strategy and overall argumentation, and were ranked based on wins, margins and speaker points.The competition followed the format of the World Schools style with two teams (consisting of three speakers each), for Proposition and Opposition.
Chief Guest
The event was organized by the IBA students and the chief guest was Taimoor Noorani from IBA.
Participants from NED
Team NED participated in the “Parliamentary Debating Competition”. It consisted of 3 members, Qurat-ul-Ain (Final year, Electrical) Shaheryar Mir (Third year, Mechanical) and Hammad Imran (Second year, Electrical), who after debating in 5 preliminary rounds managed to make it to the top 8 teams of Karachi, then won the quarter finals beating top teams and reached the semi finals where a private team ‘REBELS’ emerged victorious.
Conclusion
By competing at the largest gathering of students from Karachi, the team, while utilizing their talent to the maximum, proved their debating potential. It was truly an excellent learning experience and the team is looking forward to attend more such events in future too.
