Abstract:
The soil-moisture characteristics far various pavement subgrade soils and subbases is presented. This relationship is basic to the modeling of unsaturated flow in soils and data for pavement layers are typically not available. This research study has resulted in the development of a database, winch can be used in drainage evaluation of subgrade soils and subbases. Laboratory testing procedures for determining suction-moisture content relationship is described in detail. The experimental results are used to calibrate the parameters of two widely used moisture infiltration models for application in .pavement subgrades and subbases. Fitted values show good correlation with measured values.
