Field Visit 2
Field visit 2 lasted for 4 days, from 8 to 11 June, 2023, starting from Karachi and covering Manchar Lake. The main objective of this visit was to conduct socio-economic profiling of 35 houseboats through individual interviews with their respective owners/residents, detailed visual documentation of the houseboats, and measured documentation of the fishing boat "Hurro" and a houseboat “Galiyo”. During this survey, five of the most damaged and deteriorated houseboats were identified that required immediate repairs. Additionally, focused group discussions were conducted with five community representatives/leaders, and detailed interviews were conducted with master craftsmen/boat makers. Both interviews were video and audio recorded.
