The
National Committees of ICOMOS
ICOMOS National Committees
provide a forum where individuals and representatives of institutions
concerned with architectural heritage meet to exchange information
and views on principles and practices in the field. These
Committees represent the interests of its members, both nationally
and internationally and undertake specific activities on their
own initiatives or at request of their Governments. National
Committees are a channel through which individual specialists
in each country take part in ICOMOS international activities
including, specific UNESCO missions, conferences, international
symposiums, etc. The National Committees of ICOMOS form their
General Body inclusive of all its members who then elect or
appoint the Council of Management (5 members)
and the Executive Board (18 members). General
Body Meeting of National Committee should ideally be convened
at least once each year to examine the annual report submitted
to ICOMOS International Secretariat.
As of October 2008 more than 110 countries have formed their
National Committees. Any professional working in the varied
fields of heritage conservation can become a member of this
international network by applying through their national committees.
