BAMBOO PAVILION – MANCHAR BUND

At the edge of the serene landscape of Manchar Bund, this initiative transforms an underutilized stretch into a vibrant and inclusive community destination. Combining thoughtful landscape interventions with lightweight architectural design, the project fosters a strong connection between people, place, and nature.

The initiative centers on tree plantation and ecological enhancement, gradually shaping a cooler, shaded, and more inviting environment for visitors. Native plant species have been introduced to improve biodiversity and create a natural buffer against the harsh climate. Over time, the growing canopy will offer relief from the sun and encourage longer, more comfortable stays.

At the heart of the site stands a carefully crafted bamboo pavilion; an open, breathable structure that provides shelter without obstructing views of the surrounding landscape. Its linear form frames the horizon while guiding movement through the space, offering rest, conversation, and informal gatherings.

Constructed using sustainable materials and traditional joinery techniques, the pavilion reflects a commitment to low-impact design. Its modular nature allows for flexibility and potential expansion, adapting to the evolving needs of the community.

This project goes beyond physical infrastructure; it represents a step toward environmentally responsible development and community well-being. By integrating green practices with public space design, it encourages stewardship of the natural environment while strengthening social ties.
