100 Years of Excellence in Engineering Education

With heartfelt gratitude to Allah Almighty, I am truly honored and privileged to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of this esteemed institution—NED University of Engineering and Technology—which stands as a distinguished symbol of resilience, innovation, and national service. As we proudly celebrate a century of transformative impact, the University reflects a legacy built upon academic rigor, societal contribution, and a deep commitment to engineering excellence.

Over the past 100 years, NED University has played a pivotal role in shaping the lives and careers of thousands of graduates. Rooted in its mission to deliver quality education and foster innovation, the University continues to evolve in response to the dynamic needs of society. Today, with an academic portfolio encompassing 107 degree programmes—including 35 undergraduate offerings—and a student body of approximately 13,000, NED is preparing the next generation of professionals to thrive in an ever-changing global landscape. Our graduates are equipped not just with theoretical knowledge but also with the creativity, analytical acumen, and practical expertise needed to lead with confidence and vision.

At the heart of our success is our exceptional faculty—a diverse and dedicated group of educators and researchers, many of whom hold doctoral degrees from renowned international institutions. Their unwavering pursuit of excellence sustains the high standards of teaching and research that define NED University.
Our commitment to technological advancement and national progress is reflected in the establishment of several nationally recognized centers of excellence. These include the National Incubation Center, the National Centre for Cloud Computing and Data Analytics, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence, the National Center for Cybersecurity, and the National Center for Robotics and Automation. These cutting-edge facilities serve as engines of innovation, entrepreneurship, and scientific discovery—amplifying the University’s role in shaping Pakistan’s technological future.

NED University envisions an education system that transcends technical instruction to cultivate socially responsible, ethically grounded, and forward-thinking professionals. Our academic frameworks are carefully designed to foster critical thinking, leadership, effective communication, and a problem-solving mindset. We emphasize interdisciplinary learning, entrepreneurial spirit, and active engagement with real-world challenges.

In our pursuit of inclusive and accessible education, the University has expanded beyond its main campus on University Road, establishing the Latif Ebrahim Jamal (LEJ) Campus on Stadium Road and the City Campus on Maulana Din Muhammad Wafai Road. A landmark initiative in our regional outreach is the Thar Institute of Engineering, Sciences and Technology (TIEST) in Tharparkar, dedicated to empowering youth in remote and underserved communities by offering quality higher education closer to home.

Our alumni form the cornerstone of NED’s enduring influence. Their contributions span continents and industries—holding leadership positions in engineering, academia, business, and government, or launching ventures that generate employment and drive innovation. Their achievements continue to reflect the values, excellence, and vision nurtured at NED University.

As we celebrate 100 years of progress, we also embrace the challenges and possibilities of the future. With renewed determination, NED University is poised to lead national transformation—advancing research, fostering sustainable innovation, and expanding its impact. Guided by integrity, inclusivity, and excellence, we move forward to shape a future where education becomes the catalyst for meaningful change and national development.
