WELCOME TO DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL LIAISON (DIL)

The Higher Education Commission's (HEC) flagship initiative, the Academia-Industry-Government Linkages (Triple Helix) platform, is designed to foster collaboration between scientists from Pakistani institutions and professionals from industry and government. Fostering this significant endeavour of HEC and the Vision of NED University of Engineering & Technology, the Directorate of Industrial Liaison (DIL) was established in 1997, pursuant to DIL's vision and mission as follows;

 DIL VISION
"Bridging academia, industry, and government to cultivate skilled professionals and foster a vibrant ecosystem for sustainable socio-economic impact, aligned with the UN-SDGs."

 DIL MISSION
“To serve as a vital bridge among academia, industry, and government, catalyzing students' seamless transition into professional realms and technological progress by offering insightful industry visits, extensive internship opportunities, comprehensive career counseling, mentorship, stimulating final-year design projects, effective job placement services, fostering collaborative avenues for research and development initiatives.”

Creating a dynamic and productive ecosystem for knowledge exchange and innovation, The Directorate of Industrial Liaison (DIL) aims to develop and strengthen essential industry-university linkages through a variety of activities, including:

• Industrial Visits: Organizing study visits to various organizations for students and faculty, providing them with real-world experience.
• Internships & Co-op Education Programme: Assisting in arranging internship opportunities during vacations for students across different industries.
Additionally, DIL also invites the industry to collaborate with NED’s “Cooperative Education (Co-op) Programme”, and to consider accepting NED students as interns throughout their academic journey, from the first year to the final year, with the possibility of continued placement based on performance, especially during students' vacations.

• Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs): Facilitating the collection of FYDPs from the industry and organizing technical and practical support from the industries involved in these projects.
• Job Placement: Supporting employers with job placement through various channels, including on-campus recruitment drives, website job postings, graduate directories, and Career Fairs.
• Mentorship/Career Counseling: Facilitating mentoring and career counseling sessions for students.
• Exhibitions: Encouraging students to present their work at professional fairs, expos,  and shows.
• Faculty Industrial Placement Programme (FIPP): DIL cordially invites industries to consider taking part in our FIPP. Faculty members of NED may be able to spend their two to three-month vacation time embedded in the industry through this programme. This firsthand experience not only enriches faculty’s teaching methodologies but also enables them to better prepare our students for the demands of the ever-evolving job market.
• Other Industrial Collaboration: Facilitating collaboration through NED's expertise in industrial training, lab testing, consultancies, and R&D efforts.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNED WITH INDUSTRIES / ORGANIZATIONS

The purpose of MoU is to create a long term framework of collaboration, cooperation and development of strong linkage between industry and NED on training, consultancy, research and development or any other activity which is in the interest of both 'Parties'. The industrial collaboration and linkage would provide opportunity to students and faculty of NED for training, consultancy, R&D and exposure of professional practices while industry would be benefited in resolving their technical/managerial issues through local solutions. The collaboration would bring positive impact on environment and society.
