Dean's Message |
I consider it an absolute honour to serve as the Dean, Faculty of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering a place from where I graduated. I am cognizant of the enhanced responsibility that this honour brings and that is to further the prevailing standards of academic and professional excellence. The four departments that comprise the faculty namely Mechanical, Industrial & Manufacturing, Automotive and Textile Engineering are offering cutting edge and industry-oriented undergraduate and postgraduate and doctoral degree programmes. Mechanical department being the oldest among all the departments of the faculty has its alumni working in almost all regions and with a noticeable presence in North America where they are extending professional and research based services in the automobile industry. Likewise, the graduates of other departments have also carved a place for themselves at significant positions in various industries within and outside Pakistan. To continue enabling our graduates in making a mark with their professional preparation at the University, industry- academia linkages are promoted and welcomed. Each of these departments have sustained strong industrial linkages through planned and focused initiatives collectively by the faculty and chair and helmed by the dean. In sync with the university's vision and mission, all possible efforts are made to inculcate leadership qualities in our graduates along with making them technically sound so they are actively participating in the socio-economic transformation of the country - an ideal which is also very much our legacy that uniquely characterizes NED University right from the time of its inception to date. In pursuance of this motive, the Faculty of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering continuously monitors the curriculum and the overall instructional inputs being relevant and updated. Student and faculty exchange is highly encouraged and facilitated to enhance their exposure of institutions and industries in the developed world. Students are active members of the professional societies and forums especially those that have their regional chapters on the campus or in Pakistan as a platform for their professional grooming.
