Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad hosted a guest lecture about emerging cyber threats and national security for the students of NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi. The Director General FIA Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi was the keynote speaker. From NED University side Dr. Asad Arfeen, Associate Professor and Director National Center for Cyber Security was the host and moderator. Dr. Abbasi gave 1 hr lecture on emerging cyber threats and national security issues. He also mentioned the new challenges especially related to financial frauds and unregulated cryptocurrency. Dr. Abbasi emphasized the need of collaboration with university research centers and students. The session was followed by a series of questions by students of NED University. Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi appreciated the idea of cyber bug hunting reward programme and assured that he will look into this and offer at national level. The session ended with a note of thanks from the host.

DR. SANAULLAH ABBASI, PSP (Director General FIA):

Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi is currently serving as Director General FIA. He is the Recipient of QPM (Quaid-e- Azam Police Medal) Awarded by the President of Pakistan and PPM (Pakistan Police Medal) Awarded by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. His responsibilities as Director General FIA are overall Administration of FIA, i.e. recruitments, trainings, postings/transfers, financials, disciplinary matters. Supervision of the working of Addl. Director Generals and Zonal Directors of FIA for smooth finalization of investigation of Mega Corruption / important cases related to cyber crimes, anti-corruption, white color crimes, immigration / human trafficking and transnational crime. Before, joining FIA, he has previously served as Inspector General of Police Kyber Pakhtunkhwa and IG Police Gilgit Baltistan. Also served as Addl. IG CTD Sindh Karachi and commanded CTD personal and Counter Terrorism Force in Sindh Police.
