The University provides residential accommodation for outstation students through Muhammad Bin Qasim (MBQ) Hostel, located adjacent to the main campus. This facility consists of two separate blocks for boys i.e. MBQ-I and MBQ-II, and a dedicated Girls Hostel. The hostels are equipped with essential amenities including a Common Room, Prayer Hall, Warden’s Office, and Warden’s Room. Accommodation is primarily reserved for students who are non-residents of Karachi and is allocated through a Hostel Allotment Committee appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.

Facilities and Services:

The hostels are equipped with essential amenities to ensure student comfort and convenience. Each hostel includes a Common Room, Prayer Hall, Warden’s Office, and Canteen facilities. Additional services include:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the hostel premises.
  • Washing and laundry services for resident students.
  • Canteen service providing hygienic meals and refreshments.
  • Hostel Management Information System (HMIS) for computerized record keeping.

Allotment Process:

The hostel allotment process is transparent and merit-based. Students admitted from boards other than Karachi are eligible for hostel accommodation, which is provided on a first come first served basis. Applications are invited from newly admitted first-year students in the month of November after the completion of the admission process, and a merit list is maintained. Initially, first year students are allotted spaces in the hostel halls, and as rooms become available, they are shifted according to their merit. Due to the shortage of rooms, dormitories currently accommodate three students each, while cubicle rooms are reserved for final-year students.

Although boarding (mess) facilities are not provided by the University, a canteen service is available within the hostel premises offering daily meals and refreshments. Additionally, residents are provided with Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling access to online academic resources, and a washing and laundry facility is available for the convenience of students.

All hostel records are fully computerized using the Hostel Management Information System (HMIS), ensuring efficient record-keeping and operational transparency. Hostel charges are collected in advance on a semester basis.
